John Kuulei Isabel, 57, of Glenwood, died Oct. 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a nursery worker for California Hawaii Foliage Growers and a former member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; celebration of life at 7 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by mother, Leirima Isabel of Hilo; brothers, Rodney (Paula) Isabel and Alan Isabel, both of Hilo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Shizue Kawai, 103, of Hilo died Oct. 14 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she graduated from Hilo High School in 1927, and was a homemaker. Private services were held. No flowers. No Koden. Survived by daughters, Elaine (Larry) Nishida of Honolulu and Amy (Clifford) Kaminaka of Hilo; brother-in-law, Hiroshi (Kayo) Kawai of Gardena, Calif.; sister-in-law, Yoshiko Morinaga of Hilo; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan Marr Zwick, 72, of Holualoa, died Tuesday at his residence. Born in Rochester, New York, he was retired, the former owner and operator of A & C Automotive in Long Beach, Calif., and a Navy veteran. Private services will be held. Survived by wife, Vera Zwick of Holualoa; daughter, Roylene (Robert) Moore of Long Beach, Calif.; granddaughter, Karen Moore of Long Beach, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Jade Moore of Long Beach, Calif.; hanai sister, Bernice Francis of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
