Police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred early Thursday morning in Hilo.

Police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred early Thursday morning in Hilo.

At about 12:30 a.m., a 63-year-old Hilo man reported that he was walking along Puueo Street in the Wainaku area when he was confronted by a lone male who pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspect, who fled on foot toward downtown Hilo, is described as Polynesian, about 5-foot-2, about 180 pounds with a stocky build. He was possibly wearing a light-colored “hoodie” over his head.

A second-degree robbery case was opened and detectives are investigating.
