The Big Island Chapter of the Hui Makai Motorcycle Club will sponsor the 18th Annual Kona Toys-for-Tots event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24.
This annual event collects new, unwrapped toys and bicycles each year to be distributed to less fortunate children throughout communities on all islands. There will be a parade with Santa and lots of motorcycles to kick off this event. The motorcade of motorcycles and cars will start off at 11 a.m. at Old Kona Airport Park, traveling along Hawaii Belt Road to Keauhou, down Alii Drive, and then ending back at Old Kona Airport Park.
“The club is thankful for patience of the people of Kona, especially during the motorcade,” said spokesman Al Yano. “The success of the event year after year is contributed to the generosity of those who believe in and share the spirit of giving, especially for the sake of the children who normally can’t enjoy the joys of Christmas.
“The public is encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys and bicycles to the Old Kona Airport Park pavilion to help make a child smile this Christmas. There will be food, entertainment, door prizes, and lots of motorcycles.”
