Hawaii Community Correctional Center escapee Ryan Jeffries-Hamar, 31, was arrested at approximately 10:40 p.m. at a home in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision of Pahoa.

A task force located Jeffries-Hamar at a Kawakawa Street home and apprehended him on suspicion of first-degree escape.

Another man suspected of assisting Jeffries-Hamar was also arrested at the house. Tyler Tzovarras, 30, of Mountain View, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree hindering prosecution and an outstanding bench warrant.

Tzovarras is also being held pending further investigation.

Jeffries-Hamar escaped on Dec. 5 with 35-year-old Jarvis Naoki Higa, spurring a massive manhunt. Higa was nabbed first, on Dec. 7, at a home in the remote Ka‘u community of Ocean View.
