St. Joseph Elementary School held its preliminary school rounds for the National Geographic Bee on Dec. 6. Nine students from grades 4 through 6 competed for three places in the school final rounds to be held on Jan. 11.

St. Joseph Elementary School held its preliminary school rounds for the National Geographic Bee on Dec. 6. Nine students from grades 4 through 6 competed for three places in the school final rounds to be held on Jan. 11.

Competitors answered seven types of geographical questions, but were eliminated after two incorrect responses.

The top three students, who will compete in January for a chance to participate in the Hawaii State Geographic Bee on April 5 in Honolulu, are: Bobby Castillo (grade 5), Alexandra Kim-Lee (grade 5) and Bryn Wilcox (grade 6).
