A house fire late Friday night caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a Honokaa home.
Ten units responded to the 10:05 p.m. alarm. The first unit arrived at the Pohakealani Road residence at 10:29 p.m.
The home’s owner managed to fight the blaze and keep it mostly confined to a storage room. Firefighters arrived just as it started to move into the home’s living quarters. The structure sustained extensive smoke damage.
Fire officials estimate that $225,000 in property was saved.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
