The county reports that ongoing roadwork on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo will take place daily with the exception of holidays. Two lanes will remain open to travel, one in each direction. Work schedule varies, typically starting between 7:30-8 a.m. and ending as late as 7 p.m. On-street parking on either side of the road is not allowed. The scheduled completion for road resurfacing and drainage improvements is the end of March.

Reed’s Island Bridge in Hilo will close for repairs on Monday and reopen in October. Ka‘iulani Street was extended in December 400 feet in the westerly direction to Hale and Kahema streets as the detour route during the bridge closure.

Road resurfacing along Kaiminani Drive toward Ahiahi Street in Kona continues through Friday, Jan. 18. One-lane closures will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Improvements focus on roadway reconstruction, and drainage improvements including six-foot shoulders, tie-ins to private driveways, retaining walls, and re-striping of the roadway.
