James “Jimmy” Bell, 61, of Waimea died Dec. 29. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a commercial fishing vessel captain, a mechanical engineer for TRW in Redondo Beach, Calif., PICHTR in Honolulu, Institute for Astronomy at UH-Manoa and Keck Telescopes in Waimea and was a volunteer for PATH and North Hawaii Hospice. Private service was held. Memorial donations in his name may be made to PATH or North Hawaii Hospice. Survived by wife, Celeste Bell; sons, Richard Bell, both of Waimea, Jeffrey (Marion) Bell of Olathe, Kan., and Alexander Bell of Santa Barbara, Calif.; sister, Lydia (Sebastian) Bell of Cape Cod, Mass. Benjamin “Uncle Benny” Cariaga Sr., 88, of Waimea died Jan. 10 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Niulii, North Kohala, he was a retired agronomist for Parker Ranch, a trombone player in the West Hawaii County Band, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea 1st Ward. Visitation from 8-10:45 a.m. on Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea; Funeral service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary. Casual attire. Eduardo Estabillo Feliciano, 72, of Holualoa died Jan. 10. Born in the Philippines, he was a farmer and member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church. Hannah Martinette Fergerstrom, 27, of Kailua Kona died Jan. 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was a surfer, waitress, medical assistant and member of Living Stones Church. Thomas Kawaihau Kelekolio, 78, Honaunau died Jan. 6 at home. Born in Honaunau, he was a fisherman, coffee farmer, a retired heavy equipment operator for the State Highway Division and J.M. Tanaka and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 3, St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and a Korean War veteran.
