A delegation from New Zealand’s High Tech Youth Network will visit the Connections Public Charter School in Hilo today as the organization seeks to establish branches in Hawaii.
A delegation from New Zealand’s High Tech Youth Network will visit the Connections Public Charter School in Hilo today as the organization seeks to establish branches in Hawaii.
HTYN provides after school classes in technology for students. It started in 2011 and originated from a pilot funded by Microsoft, New Zealand.
Connections said in a press release that the five-member delegation will be looking at the school’s Makery project, which involves students using “sophisticated computer controlled fabrication systems to turn their ideas into real products.”
The school is hoping to be one of HTYN’s first sites in Hawaii.
“This is a great opportunity for our community, especially young people motivated to start a productive career in a high tech field,” said John Thatcher, Connections director.
