Senior forward Leo Klink netted a hat trick Wednesday and Kalani struck for three goals during a five-minute stretch spanning the first and second half to defeat Hilo 7-1 in the first round at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association boys soccer tournament at Oahu’s Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Senior Adryan Vidad scored in the 49th minute for the Vikings (8-6-2), cutting the lead to 5-1. Hilo, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up, will face Campbell (8-6-1) of the Oahu Interscholastic Association at 1 p.m. today in a consolation match.

Seniors Steve Teshima, Jarrett Hayama, Marcus White and junior Ryan Bui added goals for the Falcons (12-1-1), an OIA team that advanced to face top-seeded Mililani in the quarterfinals.

In another quarterfinal today, BIIF champion Kealakehe (14-0-1), the third seed, will face Kapolei (12-1-1) at 3 p.m. The Hurricanes, the OIA runner-up, blanked Kaiser 4-0.
