Jennifer Tsurumoto torched the University of Hawaii for a career-high 27 points Saturday as Cal Irvine beat the Rainbow Wahine 64-52 in Irvine, Calif.
Kamilah Martin grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds and was the only player for UH (11-11, 7-4 Big West) to score in double figures with 12 points. Martin helped her team to a 42-33 edge on the glass, but the ‘Bows shot just 31 percent.
Tsurumoto, a junior guard, shot 7 of 13 from the floor with three 3-pointers and consistently got to the line, finishing 10 of 12 from the charity stripe. Camille Buckley added 11 points for the Anteaters (6-17, 2-9).
Leading 24-16 at halftime, Cal Irvine built its lead up to as big as 16, shooting 60 percent in the second half.
Monica DeAngelis scored eight points for Hawaii and Destiny King and Hilo High graduate Vicky Tagalicod both added seven points.
