Road resurfacing on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo could resume today, weather permitting, according to a written statement from the county Department of Public Works.
Road resurfacing on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo could resume today, weather permitting, according to a written statement from the county Department of Public Works.
A final layer of asphalt is scheduled to be applied on to Kilauea Avenue between Pauahi and Aupuni streets today and Friday. During roadwork scheduled between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., there will will be one lane for Puna-bound travel between Pauahi and Aupuni.
Drivers traveling in the Hamakua direction on Klauea will be rerouted at Aupuni Street. Left turns will be allowed onto Pauahi from Aupuni only during construction hours. Both left and right turns will be permitted onto Kilauea from Aupuni.
On-street parking will be restored after roadwork is completed.
Resurfacing is scheduled along the mauka lane of Kilauea for Monday, starting from the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin to Kukuau Street, and from Kukuau to Osorio Lane on Tuesday. Construction hours are 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Access to Kukuau from Kilauea will be closed during roadwork. Special duty officers will redirect motorists to Kino‘ole Street to access Kukuau.
