William “Bill” “Russian” Henry Muragin, 86, of Hilo, died Feb. 17 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Waikii, Hawaii, he was a retired welder for Hilo Iron Works and a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Joseph F. Souza, Jr., 83, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Feb. 12 in Honolulu. Born in Wailuku, he was a Sacristan at Pahoa Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, a retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, wartime veteran of WWII and Vietnam, combat veteran of the Korean Conflict and Purple Heart recipient. Viewing 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Star of the Sea Church, Honolulu; mass at 10 a.m. Burial 1 p.m. at Kaneohe Veterans Cemetery. Survived by wife, Lorraine (Camacho) Souza of Honolulu; five sons, Charles (Tiare) Souza, John (Suzanne) Souza, both of Hilo, Mark Souza, Paul Souza, and James Souza, all of Honolulu; four daughters, Mary (Greg) Gagne of Potomac Falls, Va., Starlette Bauer of San Diego, Calif., Celeste R.
