The University of Hawaii at Hilo finished sixth at the St. Edward’s Invitational women’s golf tournament Tuesday in Austin, Texas.
The tournament was played at the Grey Rock Golf Club.
The Vulcans, under coach Jim DeMello, turned in five scores in the 80s to finish Tuesday with a 335 total — eight shots better than their first round 343.
St. Edward’s captured the tournament title with a 632 total. The hosts were followed by Dallas Baptist (658), Tarleton State (663), Lubbock Christian (668), Angelo State (671), UH-Hilo (678), Newman (685), Cal State East Bay and St. Edward’s-B (690), Cameron (691), Sonoma State (694), Western New Mexico (696), Arkansas-Fort Smith (728), St. Mary’s-TX (730) and McMurry (742).
First-round leader Kristen Sawada of UHH finished fourth with a 78-80—158 total.
Tied for 32nd place were UHH’s Jade Salvador (90-83) and Erika Morihiro (87-86) at 173. At 175 and tied for 41st place was Nyssa Aoki (88-87). Kacie Harada tied for 48th at 178 (92-86).
Vulcans teammate Shannon Abarra finished tied for 52nd place with a 179 (93-86).
