Colin Welmon threw a two-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none as the Loyola Marymount beat Hawaii 9-0 in the opening game of the UNLV Rebel Classic in Thursday in Las Vegas, kept the Warriors winless this season.

Zac Fujimoto’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth for the Lions chased starter Scott Squier (0-2), who took the loss after allowing five runs — three earned — on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Fujimoto finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Matt Lowenstein and Colton Plaia each went 3-for-5 for Loyola Marymount (4-5).

Leadoff hitter Kaeo Aliviado had the only two hits for Hawaii (0-9). Quintin Torres-Costa, a 2012 Waiakea graduate, grounded out to shortstop as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth.
