The University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s golf team finished 8th at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Sunday in Vallejo, Calif.
The Vulcans, playing on the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course, carded a final round 333 and finished with a 672 total. On Saturday, UHH shot 339.
Host Cal State East Bay claimed the tournament title with a 642 total. They were followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (644), Academy of Art (646), George Fox (653), Sonoma State (660), Chico State (664), Western Washington (667), UH-Hilo (672), Simon Fraser (739), Simpson (796) and Dominican (826).
UHH’s Kristen Sawada had rounds of 80 and 81 to finish at 161, in 10th place. Teammate Nyssa Aoki (79-84) followed in a tie for 11th at 163.
Also competing for the Vulcans were Jade Salvador (91-81—172, T-32nd), Erika Morihiro (89-87—176, T-40th) and Kacie Harada (92-88—180, T-47th).
Vulcan Shannon Abarra was playing as an unattached single and tied for 36th place with an 87-86—173 total.
