Jacqueline L. Howell, 86, of Keaau, died Feb. 22 at her residence. Born in Chile, she was a retired teacher at the Berlitz Schools of Languages. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Center (15-1570 Makuu Drive in Keaau between 16th and 17th streets). Survived by sons, Paul (Margaret Trotter) Howell of Australia, Benjamin (Vickie) Howell of Keaau, David (Koko) Howell of Massachusetts and Andrew (Grisel Ortiz-Howell) Howell of New York; brothers, Andrew Delamater of California, William Beaty of Oregon, George Beaty of California and Thomas Beaty of North Carolina; sister, Margot Ormes of Oregon; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann Baraniak, 59, Kainaliu, died Feb. 24 at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Rockford, Ill., she was a sales manager for various retail stores. Friends may call at noon Thursday at picnic area at the City of Refuge in Honaunau for a pot luck to celebrate her life. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by daughter, Tessa (Justin Glaser) Baraniak of Captain Cook; mother, Betty Baraniak of Morristown, Tenn.; sisters, Robbie (Ed) Groeinger of Niceville, Fla., Susan (Henry) Manalli of Deerfield, Ill., and Patty Tomassoni of Talbott, Tenn.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
