Sydney Plunkett and three-time defending Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Kamehameha picked up right where they left off in the pool.
Plunkett scored seven goals Saturday and the Warriors downed Hawaii Prep 14-5 in their water polo opener at Naeole Pool in Keaau.
Paula Imoto and Hali’a Nahale-a each scored twice and Acacia Trusdell, Michelle Fratinardo and Katelynn Kubo added goals for Kamehameha.
Powered by Plunkett, a senior who was second in the BIIF with 53 goals last season, the Warriors are seeking their fourth straight undefeated league season.
Bhillie Luciani netted a hat trick for the Ka Makani (1-1), and Amanda Stark and Hannah Parkin also scored. HPA scored a decisive victory in its match earlier in the day against Hilo, but a score was not available.
