Gilbert Thomas Rosa, 76, of Hilo died March 6 at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a retired mechanic technician for the former Hilo Motors, member of American Legion Post No. 3, Big Island National Guard Retirees Association and ILWU Bowling League. Visitation 6–9 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Lorna Rosa of Hilo; sons, Raymond Rosa and Thomas Rosa of Honolulu; daughters, Lorilei (Randall) Ching of Waimea and Karen (Werner) Zindric of Kalopa; brother, Charles (Joyce) Rosa of Hilo; sisters, Lucille Foster of California, Rita (Manuel) Sarme, Shirley (Roy) Legaspi and Dorothy Rosa of Hilo; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
