The University of Hawaii at Hilo announces that there will be construction work taking place on Kawili Street as part of UH-Hilo’s Hale ‘Alahonua (University Village Student Housing) development on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., weather permitting, to allow for the trenching of utility lines across the street.

Street crossings will take place about 250 feet east of the main entrance to the university and about 50 feet south of the entrance to the UHH Athletic Complex. Although two-way traffic will continue to flow, a lane may be closed for a short period of time. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic. Motorists are advised to obey the traffic signs, to proceed through the work zone with caution, and to allow for extra time to traverse this area.

Questions may be directed to construction manager Robert Yamada at 960-8128.
