A 36-year-old Puna man reported missing after failing to return from a hike on Saturday in Hawaiian Paradise Park was found safe by family members on Monday.
Fire Battalion Chief Warren Sumida said that the man, who was not identified, was taken to Hilo Medical Center for treatment.
“He’s OK, just dehydrated,” Sumida said. A firefighter at the HPP station said the man had suffered some cuts and bruises.
The man entered a wooded area off 11th Avenue near Kaloli Drive at about 10 a.m. Saturday and had apparently become disoriented. His father reported him missing when he hadn’t returned at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.
