The Hawaii Island Division of the Hawaii Government Employees Association held its first-ever golf tournament to benefit the Charles R. Kendall Scholarship and Education Fund, which provides educational benefits to HGEA members and their immediate families.

More than 100 participants enjoyed the good weather, lots of great prizes and fun.

The three-man modified scramble took place at Hilo Municipal Golf Course on March 9.

“A big mahalo goes out to all the players, sponsors, volunteers and HGEA members who helped make this event possible,” said spokesman Ian Takashiba.

Kendall dedicated his life to the improvement of public employees’ lives throughout the state of Hawaii. Established in 1966 by the HGEA, the fund which bears his name has given out more than 1,800 awards to deserving individuals.
