Kody Domingues and John Murphy claimed all-round gold for the Pacific Gymnastics Flipper’s men’s team, while Mariah Higashi took first on the uneven bars at the state championships in March on Oahu.

Dominguez, an eighth-grader at Kamehameha Middle School, won all his events at Level 9, while Murphy, a freshman at Hilo High, did the same at Level 6.

For the women’s team:

—Higashi, a Waiakea Intermediate seventh-grader who competes at Level 7, also earned silver on balance beam and all-around and bronze on the floor exercise.

—Caitlyn Nakata, a fifth-grader at Waiakea Elementary, finished in the top six in Level 7 in vault (fourth), uneven bars (fifth), all-around (fifth), balance beam (sixth) and floor exercise (sixth).

—Keely Kitamura, a Waiakea sophomore, was fourth on the vault in Level 7, sixth on floor exercise, an seventh in uneven bars, balance beam and all-around.

All five participants made high enough all-around scored to move up to the next level.
