Shinichi Kaneshiro, 85, of Hilo died April 11 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired papaya inspector with the state Department of Agriculture, macadamia nut farmer and 50-year volunteer weather observer for the National Weather Service. He was also a member of Hui Okinawa, Hawaii Government Employees Association, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, and past member of Young Farmers Association and Hilo Macadamia Nut Association. Visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by sons, David (Lisa Ann) Kaneshiro of Hilo and Robert (Kellie) Kaneshiro of Hilo; brothers, Sozun Kaneshiro of Kaneohe and Albert (Katherine) Kaneshiro of Las Vegas; sisters, Tomiko Yoza of Ewa Beach, Kazue (Kingo) Yamada of Mililani, and Sueko (Lawrence) Takenaka of Mililani; brother-in-law, Takamori Miyagi of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. Louis DeRego “Papa Louie” Cypriano, 97, of Ahualoa died April 13 at his residence. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired supervisor for the Honokaa Sugar Plantation Company and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Friends may call Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic in Honokaa, for an 8 a.m.-10 a.m. visitation; memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Urn burial at Honokaa Catholic Church Cemetery. Howard Warren Butler, 75, of Hilo died April 4 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in St. Louis, he was a retired U.S. Army medic. He was also a member of the Haili Congregational Church and the American Association of Retired Persons. Friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 where a Graveside Urn Committal Service will be held for him and his wife, the late Winona Butler who died March 21, 2011. Anthony Paro, 73, of Hilo died April 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a retired master gunnery sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps and Vietnam War veteran. He was later a maintenance engineer at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11:30 a.m. funeral service. Cremation to follow. Brian George Ross, 74, of Paia, Maui and formerly of Hilo died Friday at his residence. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, he worked as a factory shop services manager at Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company. He was also a veteran of the New Zealand Army. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on Wednesday at Ballard Family Mortuary. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
