The Kamehameha boys volleyball team wrapped up an undefeated Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular season Saturday with a pair of victories in Kapaau to clinch a spot at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament.
Kaipo Woolsey pounded 10 kills and Emmett Enriques finished with nine as the Warriors beat Kohala 25-16, 25-11, 25-7. Austin Maldonaldo added three service aces and Dennis Silva recorded six digs.
In a 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 victory against Honokaa, Evan and Emmett Enriques put down 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Cooper Hulse had three aces, Silva compiled 10 digs and Emmett Enriques had nine.
Kamehameha (13-0) also earned the top seed at the BIIF Division I semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Friday, when the Warriors will face Kealakehe (6-7) on their home court. Second-seeded Waiakea (12-1) and third-seeded Hilo (10-3) will face off in a 7 p.m. semifinal at Koaia Gym in Keaau in a match that will likely determine the league’s other berth at states.
In Division II, Konawaena outlasted Pahoa in five sets, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 15-10, at Parker on Saturday to jump the Daggers and earn the second seed at the BIIF tournament.
The Wildcats (8-5) will host Kohala (4-9) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first round, while Pahoa (8-5) draws Honokaa (5-8) at home.
Meanwhile, Christian Liberty beat the Waveriders 25-21, 25-9, 25-19 on Saturday to move up to the No. 5 seed. Keenan Freitas compiled 17 kills, 17 digs and four aces, Keanu Bergfeld added 10 kills and Keanu Bergfeld had nine. Ray Crawford came up with 31 assists.
In the first round, the Canefire (5-8) will visit Ka’u (5-7), which closes its regular season Monday at home against Keaau.
Top-seeded Hawaii Prep (11-2) already has a berth at states heading into it’s first-round matchup against Hualalai (1-12).
Friday’s semifinals at Koaia Gym are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
