Dennis Ronaldo DeLeon Sr., 61, of Kailua-Kona and Lahaina, Maui, died April 21 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired security officer for Napili Kai Resort on Maui, former bus driver for City and County of Honolulu, Roberts of Hawaii and Dollar Rent A Car, and truck driver for Maui Pineapple Company. Celebration of life 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Solid Rock Ministries Kona. Service at 10:30 a.m. Scattering of ashes 2 p.m. at Kamoa Point (Lyman’s Beach). Loose flowers welcome. Shigeru “Shige” Fujimoto, 88, of Honokaa died April 11 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired journeyman welder for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., retired Honokaa Judo Club and Honokaa Aikido Club instructor, World War II veteran of U.S. Army, Co. B, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment, Hawaii Army National Guard retiree, former chairman of the ILWU Union Local 142, past-president of the ILWU Pension Club, and member of Honokaa Hongwanji Mission Kyodan and Wednesday Night Mixed Bowling League in Kona, and former County Planning and Liquor commissioner. Visitation 1-2 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 2. Casual attire; no flowers. Teodorico D. “Chief” “Ekong” Mendoza, 88, of Pepeekeo, died April 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired crane operator for the Hilo Coast Processing Co., worked for Hakalau Sugar Plantation and was a member of the Pepeekeo Senior Citizens, ILWU Pepeekeo Pension Club, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Visitation 5-9 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Robert M. Rankin, 87, of Kapoho, died April 23. Born in California, he was a retired poodle groomer. Graveside service and burial at noon today at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo.
