The Race to the Top program is a competitive four-year grant program designed to encourage and reward states that are creating the conditions for education innovation and reform; achieving significant improvement in student outcomes, including making substantial gains in student achievement, closing achievement gaps, and improving high school graduation rates; and ensuring students are prepared for success in college and careers.

Wednesday afternoon, she was to continue her visits to Race to the Top schools on Oahu with stops at Nanakuli High School, Nanakuli Elementary and Nanaikapono Elementary.
