The visitor’s center in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was closed for at least an hour earlier today due to hazardous levels of vog, or volcanic gases.

The visitor’s center in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was closed for at least an hour earlier today due to hazardous levels of vog, or volcanic gases.

The national park remains open, but park officials asked that visitors and staff avoid the visitor’s center and nearby areas, including Volcano House and Volcano Art Center.

Park officials said they would re-evaluate the conditions later in the day.
