Evan Enriques and Kamehameha-Hawaii are loading up again for Punahou.

Enriques smacked 28 kills on .431 hitting and sophomore Emmett Enriques posted 10 kills Wednesday night as the Warriors pushed past Kalaheo 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 at McKinley High School in Honolulu in a first-round match at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I volleyball tournament.

Defensively, Evan Enriques led the way for the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up with 16 digs, Shannon Kanakaole added 13 and Dennis Silva had 11. Kaipo Woolsey chipped in with nine kills as the Warriors (15-1) hit .307.

In a rematch of last season’s five-set state final thriller, Kamehameha will face top-seeded Punahou (15-2), the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion, at 7 p.m. today in the quarterfinals. Despite trailing twice, the Buffanblu overcame Enriques’ 42 kills last tear to capture their sixth state title in eight season after eking out the decisive set 15-13.

Statistics were not available Wednesday night for the Mustangs (13-3), the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s third-place team. Kamehameha started slow with .150 hitting in the first set before heating up in Game 2, when the Warriors made only two attack errors and hit. 406.

Woosley, a senior, hit .368 as Kamehameha rebounded from its first loss of the season, a five-setter last Saturday against Waiakea in the BIIF title game.

In its quarterfinal,. No. 3 seed Waiakea (14-1) also plays an ILH team, Kamehameha-Kapalama (15-3), at 7 p.m. today at Waipahu High. The Oahu Warriors swept McKinley 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 in the first round.

The ILH has accounted for the past 33 state Division I champions.
