Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation won a gold medal May 1 at the prestigious Gold Bean Cupping Contest at SIAL, the global food marketplace, in Canada. Last year, Mountain Thunder won a national award for Kona at the Good Food Awards in San Fransisco.

The winners of the Coffee Cup by SIAL, the famous coffee contest held during SIAL Canada 2013 in Toronto, were judged by Specialty Coffee Association of America rules as the jury members selected the best coffees submitted by roasters and producers from all over the world.

This is one of more than a dozen awards won by the Cloud Forest Estate, which produces the highest-elevation coffee grown in the state and is the largest organic coffee farm in Hawaii. The farm and mill give complimentary tours daily, with VIP tours and roastmaster sessions by appointment. Call 888-414-5662 or visit mountainthunder.com.
