Arthur Norris Jones, 84, of Hilo died Friday at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Thorsby, Ala., he was a retired engineer for San Jose Steel and West Coast Rebar. He was also a member of the U.S. Army during World War II and Korean War. Private services to be held. Survived by sons, David (Jenipher) Jones of Hilo and Daniel Jones of Volcano; daughter, Deborah (George) Newton of Campbell, Calif.; brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Jones of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Walter “Bud” (Bobbie) Jones of Hood River, Ore.; two grandchildren. Mamoru Sakamoto, 99, Kapaau died Friday at Kohala Hospital. Born in Kohala, he was a warehouse clerk at the Kohala Sugar Company and a member of Hawi Jodo Mission. Friends may call at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hawi Jodo Mission in Hawi for a 2 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. Yasushi Sugahara, 87, of Hilo, died May 7. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired fisherman. Funeral services Saturday at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home in Hilo. Visitation at 9 a.m. Service at 10 a.m. Survived by daughters, Charlene Sugahara of Washington, Sharon (Sonny) Shimaoka of Waimea, Leomi (Lars) Bergknut of Hilo, Leona (George Gibo) Sugahara of Hilo and Melanie (Clayton Mehau) Sugahara of Hilo; sisters, Harue Okada of Honolulu, Minako Hefty of Chicago and Yaeko Kitajima of California; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Michie Hayashida, 92, of Hilo died April 24 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Waiakea, she was a sales clerk at the Naniloa Gift Shop and a member of the Hilo Tenrikyo Church. Survived by daughters, Janet (Federico Sr.) Badua of Papaikou and Doreen (Patrick) Tanihiro of Hilo; stepson, George (Alice) Hayashida of Waimanalo; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Kazuo Maruyama, 90, of Volcano died May 12 at his home. Born in Captain Cook, he was a retired vegetable farmer, Hilo Farm Bureau member and veteran of the U.S. Army, Company K, 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Private services held. Interment to be held at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. No flowers. No koden.
