Patricia Kawakone, 71, of Kahului, Maui, formerly of Hilo, died May 7 at Straub Clinic & Hospital in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, cosmetics department employee at the former Standard Drug in Hilo and member of the Island and Bluffs at Maui Lani, Maui Okinawan Kenjin Kai, and Hawaii United Okinawa Assn. Keiichi “Nishi” Nishimura, 84, of Naalehu died May 22 at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Pahala, he was a retired garage supervisor for the former Hutchinson Sugar Co. and Ka‘u Agribusiness, member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission, ILWU, Ka‘u Golf Club and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
