Sakae Tanaka, 87, of Laupahoehoe, died May 22 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was the proprietor of the former Seaside Service Station, an automobile mechanic for the Laupahoehoe Sugar Company and member of the Papaaloa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation 9 a.m. to 10 a.m Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers. No Koden. Survived by wife, Shizue Tanaka of Laupahoehoe; daughters, Renee (Gary) Nishioku of Aiea and Faith (Allen) Gourley of New Bethlehem, Pa.; brother, George (Nellie) Tanaka of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters, Masako Okamura of Laupahoehoe, Bernice Tomiyama of Pepeekeo, Tsuyako (Takao) Fujitani of Aiea, Elsie (James) Doherty of Orlando, Fla., and Carole (Hardy) Tsutsumi of Hilo; sister-in-law, Mabel Tanaka of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
