Hilo’s Isaiah Kanno earned a qualifying spot at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships by sharing medalist honors Friday at a qualifier in Lihue, Kauai.

Kanno, who finished at 3-under 143 in the 9- and 10-year-old boys division, will be joined at junior worlds by three other Hilo youngsters: Kiersten Saludares, Michiko Ejima and Dysen Park.

Kanno started the second round with a three-shot lead and closed with an even-par 73 at Wailua Golf Course. Jacob Torres of Aiea, Oahu, caught Kanno with a 67. Both will head to the championships, which are scheduled for July 16-19 at various courses in the San Diego area.

Saludares clinched her trip by finishing third in the girls 9-10 division at 79-80—159, which was five strokes behind medalist Lana Calibuso-Kwee of Wailuku, Maui.

Park (74-81—155) and Ejima (107-103—210) earned their spots as the sole participants in their respective 7-8 divisions at the two-day qualifier.

A pair of Waiakea High golfers failed to qualify in the upper division.

Senior Andi Igawa (76-81—157) tied for ninth in girls 15-18, while Waiakea sophomore Trevor Hirata (81-78—159) tied for 18th on the boys side.

Other Hilo golfers in the field were: Shon Katahira (sixth in boys 13-14, 154); Kaley Ann Saludares (10th, 13-14, 180); Kaelyn Uchida (7th, 11-12, 170); and Riku Omata (7th, 11-12, 170).
