Three East Hawaii artists will show their work at the “Best of the West” show June 21-23 at the Wyland Kona Oceanfront Gallery. The annual event features more than 15 Big Island artists, including Rose Adare, Rod Cameron, two master painters, and woodburning artist Bea Israel.

The four elements inspired Adare’s large-format paintings that will be seen at the show. She captures the essence of fire, water, air and earth with her powerful portraits of young women from the Big Island, immersed and surrounded by the forces of nature.

Cameron works out of his Beach Road Studio in Keaau and his passionate images of Hawaiian landscapes, dancers and his portraits are composed with immense energy and movement. Cameron has won numerous awards for his illustrations and design.

A new face on the island art scene, Israel has taken the classic art of woodburning to another, colorful level. Her images are inspired by the marine life and the powerful nature of the Big Island, using pyrography and transparent layers of color to work with the texture and grain of locally grown wood.
