On Saturday, Hawaii Island Adult Care will host a “Caregiver Respite Day” from 9 a.m. to noon for family caregivers of older adults.
“This fun day will provide a great opportunity for you to talk story with other family caregivers, learn about community services that will help you with family caregiving and lets you know that you are not alone,” said HIAC spokeswoman Lizby Logsdon.
“Family caregiving is a labor of love with as many rewards as frustrations,” said Logsdon.
Saturday’s program includes Faith LeLievre teaching some of the healing properties of qigong. Enjoy foot and back massage, one-on-one caregiver support, continental brunch, games, lots of laughter and door prizes.
“Please visit Hawaii Island Adult Care on facebook to see the fun that we have,” said Logsdon. There is a $10 registration fee, with scholarships available. Free adult care is provided for your loved one.
For more information, or to make a reservation, please email Logsdon at llogsdon@hawaiiislandadultcare.org or phone 961-3747, ext. 101.
This event occurs on the third Saturday of every month. Also available is HIAC’s monthly Caregiver Support Group, which meets on the third Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. HIAC is located at 34 Rainbow Drive in the Hilo Adult Day Center.
