Akio “Stan” Higa, 80, of Hilo died at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home on Saturday, June 1. Born in Hilo, he was a retired electrician for the County of Hawaii and the former proprietor of Akio Higa’s Electrical Service. He was also a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Hilo and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Monday from 3-4 p.m., where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., followed by cremation.
