First Hilo Open Studios Tour

The East Hawaii Cultural Council will sponsor the first-ever Hilo Open Studios Tour in November, and planning is under way. The event is open to all artists, in all media, and all galleries in the Hilo area. Visit the East Hawaii Cultural Center at 141 Kalakaua St. to get information and applications, or call 961-5711.

“We are asking for volunteers to help organize the event,” said spokesman Lourdan Kimbrell. “Artist open studio tours have been successful in Hawaiian Paradise Park and in Volcano over the last few years, and EHCC believes that artists in Hilo will benefit from the opportunity to present their art for sale and meet other artists.”

The Hilo Open Studios Tour will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15-17. Applications for the tour need to be completed and submitted to EHCC no later than Sept 1.

The Hilo Open Studios Tour is a joint venture by the East Hawaii Cultural Council, Volcano Art Center and the Hawaiian Paradise Park Open Studios Tour.
