A one-vehicle collision closed Hilo’s “Singing Bridge” for an hour-and-a-half Wednesday evening.
Police said a man driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck north on Highway 19 lost control on the bridge, hit the sidewalk and overturned. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Jens Beets of Pepeekeo, was uninjured.
No charges were filed, a police spokeswoman said.
The overturned truck caused a minor oil spill on the bridge, which was cleaned up by a county Public Works crew.
Traffic was rerouted through Wainaku at Hau Lane and Waianuenue Avenue.
