Michael Tetsuo Tsukayama, 66, of Hilo died Friday at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a retired social worker. He was a member of the Americans of Japanese Ancestry Bowling League, Hawaii Government Employees Association Bowling League, and Wednesday Night Mixed Bowling League. Visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Urn burial at 9 a.m. Monday at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Mina Tsukayama of Hilo; daughter, Ivy (Leonard) Ramboyon of Hilo; grandson, Scott Ramboyon of Hilo; granddaughter, Kelly Ramboyon of Hilo; brothers, Richard (June) Tsukayama and Alvin Tsukayama, both of Honolulu; sister, Charlene Tsukayama of Hilo; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. William Pau Chun Chow, 77, of Pahoa died June 3 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired rancher with Hanaipoe Ranch. Private family services held. Hiroshi “Hank” Kushida, 83, died June 11 at Stanford University Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, he served as a sergeant in the Army National Guard and in the Army reserve. He worked for the California Engineering Department for 35 years before retiring in Hilo in 1990. He golfed at Hilo Municipal Golf Course, was a member of Big Island Ballroom Dance Association, and attended Hawaii Adult Care. He was also a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. His funeral service will be held there at 4 p.m. Saturday. Survived by wife, Samiko “Sami” Kushida; son, Clete (Shirley) Kushida; brother, Albert (Mitzie) Kushida of Northridge, Calif.; sisters, Sumiko (Larry) Yaji of Wahiawa and Akiko (Russell) Oda of Hilo; sister-in-law, Helen Kushida of Hilo; many nephews and nieces.
Sozun Kaneshiro, 98, of Hilo died June 8 at Aloha Nursing and Rehab Centre on Oahu.Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired carpenter and farmer. Private services held. No koden. Survived by sons, Roy T. Haruo Kajiyama’s memorial service will be held Thursday at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home. Visitaition at 9 a.m.; service at 10 a.m. An obit published Saturday had the incorrect date. Additionally, he is survived by sister-in-law, Toshie (Naoki) Takamura of Honolulu and brother-in-law, George (Michiko) Yokota of Pahala.
