Sueko Beyer, 80, of Pahala, died June 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paia, Maui, she was a retired secretary for Pahala Elementary and Ka‘u High School, and worked for the first Hawaii state Legislature after statehood in 1959, the Peace Corps, University of Hawaii and various attorney offices on Oahu and the Big Island. Services held. Survived by husband, Barry A. Beyer of Pahala; son, Frni (Cynthia Louie) Beyer of San Francisco; daughter, Yuri Beyer of Pahala; brother, David Takushi of Honolulu; sister, Janet Higa of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Roy A. Forbes, 87, of Hilo died June 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired industrial relations director for former Hamakua Sugar Co., member of Hilo United Methodist Church, A&A Scottish Rite of Hilo-Kilauea Masonic Lodge and veteran of U.S. Army. Friends may call 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at Hilo United Methodist Church. Memorial service at 11 a.m.. Casual attire: no flowers.
