The Digital Media Arts Products and Services Exposition will showcase the small businesses established as part of recent classes from 10 a.m.-noon on July 3 in the Hawaii Community College cafeteria on Manono Street.
The range of projects runs from website design to online guides to Hawaii, to video games and online comics, to books. The digital media arts students utilized their skills with various computer programs to create marketable digital art products and services.
This is the first year for the showcase. It featured the work of students from two classes, art practicum and business in art. Assistant Professor Meidor Hu taught the art practicum, and Mililani Hughes taught business in art. The showcase was supported by an Alu Like grant.
“The community has been tremendously supportive of our budding entrepreneurs,” Hu said. “Business people in the field volunteered to come into the class to talk to the students as well as welcomed the students to work sites.”
Presenters will include Jeremiah White of akuacreative.com, Connie Kurohara and the Creative Arts staff, Susan Yugawa of the UHH Graphics Department, Aaron Brown of the Hawaii Small Business Development Center, Alan Ohara of ‘Ena Media Productions, independent filmmaker GB Hajim, attorney Joy San Buenaventura, Craig Camellos of Finance Factors and Ira Ono of Volcano Garden Arts.
The public is invited to this free event.
