The low-flying helicopter that caused multiple complaints Wednesday along the Kona coast was chartered out by Fugro Aerial & Mobile Mapping, Inc., a private company that does GPS mapping.
The helicopter was not part of any Hawaii Police Department activity and should not be a cause for concern, the department said.
Fugro Aerial & Mobile Mapping is headquartered in Lafayette, La., and is a member of the multinational Fugro group of companies. The company has more than 13,500 employees in 60 countries worldwide.
