Honey Badgers
Honey Badgers
prepare for battle
The Paradise Roller Girls’ Honey Badgers are heading to Maui for the Battle of the Islands, and Talina DiMartino, aka Sasha Buzzkill, expects the all-star team to “outblock, outscore and outskate” the competition.
The Honey Badgers will face the Maui Roller Girls at 8 p.m. Friday in Kahului. The first match of the day pits another Big Island club, the Waimea Wranglers, against the Maui Owie Rollers at 6:30 p.m.
The tournament continues Saturday and also features Pacific Roller Derby (Oahu), Garden Isle Renegade Rollerz (Kauai), and Aloha City Rollers (Oahu).
“We’re ready for anything,” DiMartino said. “We’ve been doing extra endurance drills, scrimmaging, and having meetings about strategy.”
