Waiakea Pirates Youth Baseball is signing up first-year T-ball participants for players born between May 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009 for the 2014 season.

coaching openings

Kamehameha-Hawaii is seeking coaches for the following 2013-2014 sports:

• Assistant coach, junior varsity football.

• Head coach, middle school boys soccer.

• Assistant coach, middle school boys soccer.

July 11 is the deadline to apply for all three positions.

HFC offers 6-on-6

football, free clinics

Due to popular demand, the Hawaii Football Club will offer girls tackle football for grades 5-6 with 6-on-6 play in which all receivers are eligible.

The HFC fall tackle seasons for boys and girls starts Aug. 5.

HFC will host a free quarterback/receiver camp from July 12-14 at Waiakea High for high school athletes. The camp will featur former Hawaii receiver Jeremiah Cockheran, former Utah wideout Anthony Arceneaux and Vince Passas.

Passas and Arceneaux will put on a combine during the first two days, along with the skills training, classroom session and breaking down video. The third day will be a 7-on-7 tournament.

From July 26-27 in Hilo and Kailua-Kona, HFC will host a free football clinic featuring Kahuku coach Reggis Torres and his coaching staff.

Sporting clay shoot

on tap for July 21

The O.S.O.C. club will hold compact a sporting clay shoot from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 21 at the county trap and skeet range.

All shotguns, ammunition, clay targets and eye and ear protection must be provided by participants, and the event will be limited to sub-gauge guns.
