HONOLULU (AP) — The state public hospital system has parted ways with its chief executive officer.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://bit.ly/15g4bdZ) reports the board of Hawaii Health Systems Corp. has removed Bruce Anderson as president and chief executive officer.
Board Chairman Avery Chumbley on Monday was named acting CEO.
He says he didn’t want to comment on the specifics of Anderson’s departure but that the board decided it was time to go in a different direction.
Anderson’s cellphone Tuesday had been disconnected and he could not be reached for comment.
Anderson earned $242,250 annually and was the corporation’s highest-paid employee.
Kona-Dau Democratic Sen. Josh Green says that from his perspective, Anderson has been doing a good job and that the system had improved in the last two years under Anderson’s direction.
