Harold Haruto Manago, 94, of Captain Cook died July 6 in the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired manager and former owner of the Manago Hotel. He was a member of Kona Hongwanji Mission, Hanei Kumi, a former member of the Kona Lions Club, was on the Board of Education, School Advisory Council, board and committee member of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union, and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. July 26 at the Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for a 3 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Merwyn (Ellen) Manago of Honolulu, Randall Manago of Captain Cook and Dwight (Cheryl) Manago of Captain Cook; daughters, Elaine (Ronald) Katahara of Honolulu and Sherre (Ronald) Belany of Maui; brothers, Harry Manago, Takashi Manago and Isamu (Amy) Manago, each of Honolulu, Jay (Beatrice) Manago of Captain Cook and Pentson (Toshi) Sugamura of Seattle; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Yoshitaka “Yoshi” Yano, 85, of Kealakekua died July 10 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired supervisor for state Department of Vector Control and a coffee farmer. He was also a member of Kanaueue Kumiai, Kona Ongaku Dan, Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and Central Kona Union Church. Visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua. Service at 11 a.m. Survived by wife, Laura Sawako Yano of Kealakekua; daughters, Jocelyn (Clyde) Sakata of Holualoa and LuAnn (Jonathan) Flores of Rescue, Calif.; son, Brad (Sena) Yano of Honolulu; sister-in-laws, Molly Yano of Kealakekua and Joyce Yano of Honolulu; a grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service details for Hanako Kainoa Louis have changed. Friends may call from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, July 20. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. followed by urn committal in the church cemetery.
