Doreen Joyce Johnson, 68, of Hilo died July 12 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired gift shop manager for Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel and graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Hilo. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave. in Keaukaha. Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Private urn committal at a later date. Survived by son, Jason (Carol Malina) Johnson of Hilo; sisters, Marlene (Pio) Miprano and Charlene Medeiros of Hilo; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncle. Howard Keith Salmo, 54, of Kailua-Kona died July 4 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Pahala; he was a maintenance mechanic for Department of Public Works at Pohakuloa Military Training Area, a supervisor for Mauna Loa Macadamia Orchards, irrigation technician and U.S. Army veteran.
