“Our first ‘Sham-pooch’ was such a fun event that we decided to do ‘Shampooch II,’” say coordinators of Saturday’s second sudsy event to benefit Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary.
“Shampooch II” will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon and will include doggy washing, nail trimming and “bling bling” by Shear Magic for your favorite pet.
“We’ll also have doggy games, a photo shoot with your companion, and treats and people prizes,” said a spokesman.
The cost for shampooing ranges from $5-10 (small to large pet) and photos and nail trimming are just $5 each. The event will be held at the Eagles facility located in Keaau across from the transfer station.
The beneficiary, Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, is a nonprofit, no-kill sanctuary in Kurtistown that cares for abused, neglected and homeless animals.
On a daily basis, about 325 dogs and cats receive nutrition, veterinary care, grooming and lots of love through a core group of dedicated volunteers under the direction of founder and sanctuary President Mary Rose Krijgsman.
Our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for our animals and to serve the community by holding monthly low-cost spay/neuter clinics,” Krijgsman said.
“We hope to see you and your best friend at our second Shampooch Dog Wash.”
