The Lanakila girls soccer team captured the U19 championship of the 2013 Albion Cup National Soccer Showcase on Wednesday in San Diego, Calif. The talented team, comprised of Big Island high school players, outscored their opponents 20-1 during the tournament.
The Lanakila girls soccer team captured the U19 championship of the 2013 Albion Cup National Soccer Showcase on Wednesday in San Diego, Calif. The talented team, comprised of Big Island high school players, outscored their opponents 20-1 during the tournament.
It was the second straight tourney title for Lanakila, which claimed the U19 title earlier in an Oregon tournament.
Members of champion Lanakila include Taylor Matas, Caili Ebaniz, Emily Evans, Monica Carlos, Mika Bettencourt, Jashea Leleiwi, Mae Quiamas, Lolly Higa, Delcee Ramos, Harper Hottendorf, Nanea Tavares, coach John Edwards, Jordan Melchor, Kaili’I Smith, Lexie Cuaresma, Taiana Tolleson, Gabrielle Ewing, Brianna Vallente, Karissa Komo and coach Trevor Edwards.
